Be Prepared for an Emergency when you Travel:

Threats from natural disasters (hurricanes, wildfires, earthquakes), political unrest and terrorist attacks have become part of our everyday lives. Being prepared can save your life and the life of others.

Step1:  Before Your Trip

· Enroll in STEP (Smart Traveler Enrollment Program) The US Embassy will send you important information about safety conditions, contact you in an emergency and help family and friends get in touch with you

· Activate your phone for overseas use

· Choose hotel with high speed internet access

· Use travel specialist to book your travel.  They know which areas are safe and which tour guides to trust.

· Pack first aid kit / medications

· Know where local Embassy, Consulate and hospitals are.  Have telephone numbers readily available.

· Check your health insurance plan guidelines to overseas coverage

Step 2:  Safety Tips During Your Travel

· Carry your hotel’s business card with you at all times

· Have local emergency numbers for police, medical emergencies etc. for your travel destination

· Make copy of your passport page and any visas
